Case Study Title: SHS Griffin | Interactive PDFs of print catalogs
Client’s needs & goals:
Presenting its complete product offering to growers and garden centers is not an easy undertaking for distributors who carry thousands of SKUs across hundreds of different products. Like most suppliers, Griffin Greenhouse Supplies has produced four-color print catalogs for years, handing them out at tradeshows, providing them to sales reps, and mailing them to active customers and interested prospects. Recently, Griffin decided to move beyond traditional catalogs and create digital, interactive PDF versions of its catalogs.
Role of Meister Interactive:
Meister Interactive did all of the programming associated with building the digital catalogs to ensure full compatibility with web browsers as well as iPads. This included inserting a new ‘How to Use This Catalog’ page in the digital editions, adding pages for digital-only content, and building hundreds of links throughout the pieces so growers could move quickly and easily from the Table of Contents or Index directly to a product page with just the touch of a button.
After experimenting by just creating a digital edition for one of its three catalogs for two years, Griffin saw a 56% increase in downloads. This traction influenced the decision to publish interactive PDFs for all three catalogs, and contributed to the idea of adding digital-only bonus content for 2016. Meister Interactive supplied the digital files to Griffin for posting on the company’s website and dissemination via email. The company hosts them behind a registration screen online which means they’ve turned them into lead-generating tools for the sales organization.
