Suntory Flowers’ extensive product offering is sold primarily through distribution, so the company wanted to develop an innovative sales and marketing tool that would provide value to its distributor sales force while also helping growers understand how to produce the plants. In addition, as a relatively new player recently entering a mature market, Suntory looks for marketing vehicles that demonstrate the company’s innovation and differentiate it from the competition.
Role of Meister Interactive:
Suntory needed to find a solution provider who could offer a combination of the requisite market knowledge needed to conceptualize an app that would attract growers’ interest along with the technical expertise required to build a successful app. The right solution for Suntory Flowers was to hire Meister Interactive as project manager and then have us select an app developer and manage them.
In addition to filling this role, the Meister Interactive team was involved in designing the app’s structure and function, identifying the linking relationships between the various portions of the app, and providing quality control.
In 2013, Suntory Flowers became the first plant breeder serving the U.S. floriculture market to launch a true native app plant resource. The app – which includes functionality so that distributor reps can customize the product catalog to show the specific products they carry – clearly illustrated the company’s commitment to the industry and gives the company a foundation from which it can make future updates as its catalog evolves.
